Ben Erichson

N. Ben Erichson

Ben Erichson is a Senior Research Scientist and Research Group Leader, heading the Robust Deep Learning group within the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI), an Affiliated Institute of UC Berkeley. He is also affiliated with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research focuses on the intersection of deep learning and dynamical systems, with a primary objective of developing robust neural network architectures for vision and scientific applications. Prior to his current positions, he was a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Data-driven Modeling and Artificial Intelligence in the School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed postdoctoral research in the Department of Statistics at UC Berkeley, working with Michael Mahoney, and in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington working with Nathan Kutz and Steven Brunton. Ben earned his PhD in Statistics from the University of St Andrews in December 2017.
